Title: Character Plotting
Description: Pre-Production
John - July 12, 2007 05:19 AM (GMT)
Those of you who have passed your audition feel free to work out how your characters relate to one another within this thread. You're going to need a solid definition of everyone's relationship to one another before the "Game Film" begins. Once you have the relationships worked out, be sure to list them in your character profiles. If you have any ideas on how to improve on this process, feel free to share those ideas as well. ;)
Cortez - July 12, 2007 06:46 PM (GMT)
Well, last night Emmaly and I were talking and we could both see Rumer and Cortez being the couple that makes everyone go "ewww!".
John - July 12, 2007 06:55 PM (GMT)
 Cool. Just so it's clear the current approved cast of characters are Courtney, Cortez, Rumer, and Lucas. So as of yet those are the group of friends, but remember more characters could be joining that group soon. ;)
If you guys want to have family connections among the group feel free, but given the concept of the game I'm only going to allow for one family collection. Two (step) brothers, two (step) sisters, a (step) brother/sister, OR just two cousins. If you guys wanna do that, it's up to you guys which two characters will have that type of relationship. A majority vote type of thing maybe...
Courtney - July 12, 2007 10:32 PM (GMT)
I'm happy to go along with anything decided, I'm not difficult. I don't particularly want to be related to any character so there isn't a problem for me if anyone wants to be related to someone.
Rumer - July 12, 2007 10:42 PM (GMT)
I see Rumer and Courtney being friends. *nods* You know members of the group that they can actually stand. :P
Courtney - July 12, 2007 10:47 PM (GMT)
Yeah, girls before boys. Just think we have all those strong men to take stabbings for us, it's the gentlemanly thing to do.
Maybe she's good friends with Rumer and that's how she got to know Cortez, through her dating him? So she knows Cortez, but he isn't one of her BFF's or anything...
Cortez - July 12, 2007 10:56 PM (GMT)
I can see that. Cortez is going to be the "punk" kid. Sarcastic but a big joker, and he doesn't like the really perky and happy preppy people. Jocks and Cheerleaders = no way, Jose! Simply put, he's the rebel.
Courtney - July 12, 2007 11:00 PM (GMT)
Cool. Well then to make things a little more interesting, how about Courtney doesn't really like Cortez as she thinks he's bad for Rumer?
She's a little intimidated by him and feels like he's leading Rumer astray. So she doesn't think much of him...when the murders start she may even suspect him.
Cortez - July 12, 2007 11:04 PM (GMT)
Now that's interesting! I could really see that happening since Cortez is the more "bad" one out of the group.
Rumer - July 12, 2007 11:05 PM (GMT)
That's a great idea Emma. Possibly even that Rumer and Cortez have been having arguements over some things which would also lead Courtney to suspect Cortez of being the murderer for awhile.
Courtney - July 12, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)
Yeah I think that would go down really well. It would make an interesting twist, because there is always one of the gang that people suspect when murders start happening and Courtney is the type who's mind would immediatly jump to conclusions.
Rumer - July 12, 2007 11:12 PM (GMT)
Well and if Cortez is the bad boy rebel of the group and he'd been fighting with Rumer and Courtney had been trying to convince her that she should break up with him they would think that Cortez was pissed over the fact that he thought Rumer might break up with him. You know that whole "if I can't have her no one can have her" mentality. Courtney and the others are just cannon fodder.
Cortez - July 12, 2007 11:16 PM (GMT)
I could see Cortez and Rumer fighting because like I said, Cortez is going to be the rebel type character and we all know that they have the smallest tempers. Needless to say, their relationship probably isn't the most healthy out there.
Courtney - July 12, 2007 11:18 PM (GMT)
Yeah I can see that happening, it will work whoever dies first. Unless Cortez does of course, then they may even suspect Courtney of killing him, since she was the one that had the biggest problem with him.
Rumer - July 12, 2007 11:21 PM (GMT)
Well Rumer wouldn't suspect Courtney unless it had you know been self defense. Because being Cortez's girlfriend she's got loads of first hand experiance with his temper and knows that he can get upset easily. So this will work well.
John - July 13, 2007 12:02 AM (GMT)
So Courtney and Cortez will be listing each other as Enemies...or "Frienemies". I think the connection between Courtney/Rumer/Cortez is interesting. So there's just a question of how Lucas fits in.
Cortez - July 13, 2007 07:03 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, it all depends on how Jon wants to take Lucas. I could see Jared Padalecki being a jocky type, which would mean that Cortez hates him. But, like I said, it all depends on how Jon wishes to play him
Lucas - July 13, 2007 03:36 PM (GMT)
I'm kinda seeing Lucas as a bit of a jock type, but generally an okay guy to get on with if you can see past that, but I'm guessing Cortez wouldn't actually want to, so I'm guessing that Cortez and Lucas would be in each others enemies section.
Cortez - July 13, 2007 03:53 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I can see that happening. Cortez probably wouldn't give Lucas the time of day. Cortez is going to be such a prick! But yeah, he probably wouldn't want to bother trying to get to know Lucas. I could see Rumer always trying to explain his anger and his actions, but eventually giving up.
Courtney - July 13, 2007 04:19 PM (GMT)
And Courtney and Lucas? How about they're good childhood friends or something? I could see them getting along well from what I have in mind for Courtney's character and what you've said about him.
Lucas - July 13, 2007 04:30 PM (GMT)
Yeah, that works and yeah, if he wasn't good friends with at least one person in the group, he wouldn't even be here.
John - July 13, 2007 04:32 PM (GMT)
So it would be like Cortez dates Rumer, who is friends with Courtney, who grew up with Lucas.
That's a nice set-up. I'm glad everyone has a connection so far. I'm hoping we get a few more characters who pass their auditions, if only to get the numbers up so when can have more than a few deaths the first time around. After all, the only characters around is really going to be you guys' group of friends.
Rumer - July 13, 2007 04:42 PM (GMT)
Well now that I can see what everyone was posting.
Lucas being childhood friends with Courtney and Courtney and Rumer being like best friends will definately make things hard on Cortez and since he's such an ass...*nods* Yeah they're going to suspect him unless of course he dies first.
Courtney - July 13, 2007 04:46 PM (GMT)
Yep, I think we have the perfect set up so far. The relationships between them all seem very logical and like they'll pan out well.
I agree with you John, I hope we get some more people too. The more murders the better! mwhaaaa
John - July 13, 2007 05:00 PM (GMT)
Exactly! I also kinda want to get the game started as soon as possible, but I know I need to be patient and give people more time to find the place, check it out, and see if they want to join. <_<
 I know it won't get that many members at first, as someone I know says, the board will have to grow organically. You can't rush it. :)
Rumer - July 13, 2007 05:12 PM (GMT)
I want to get started too. But we also don't want like...a TON of people going on a roadtrip. Because I'll tell you I've done that. And it's not fun.
Aside from that. I don't think the board will have any problem attracting members. It's an interesting concept.
John - July 13, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
Once again, exactly! I think I will cut it off at a low number, but I haven't decided how low of a number as of yet. Somewhere between 6-8, with three survivors, somewhere along those lines will be a good number.
Courtney - July 13, 2007 05:28 PM (GMT)
Well if Mandi and Brandan pass we'll have six, so we'd have reached the minimun cut-off number you were thinking of. Oh and it will be equal boys to girls.
But yeah, once word of mouth starts going I'd think there'd be more people joining.
Rumer - July 13, 2007 05:30 PM (GMT)
And 6-8 is definately a managable number for a horror movie. Which means 3 or 5 people die. Since there are only 3 survivors after all.
John - July 13, 2007 05:36 PM (GMT)
Or four people will die if we go for the odd man out scenario of seven friends. For some reason I'm a fan of odd numbers...
Rumer - July 13, 2007 05:40 PM (GMT)
Perhaps that's because you're odd. ;)
John - July 13, 2007 05:51 PM (GMT)
Maybe... -_- So *prods the people* what number are you guys most comfortable with?
Lucas - July 13, 2007 05:55 PM (GMT)
Usually it's about 2 deaths per survivor, so yeah, 6 to 8 is a reasonable number.
Courtney - July 13, 2007 06:53 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I agree 6-8 is a good number.
Cortez - July 13, 2007 07:01 PM (GMT)
John - July 17, 2007 06:38 PM (GMT)
What kind of car do you guys think you'll be driving in? It'd have to be something fairly large to fit 6-8 individuals.
Lucas - July 17, 2007 06:52 PM (GMT)
I could be very cliché, in fact, no, I will be and suggest a black '67 Chevy Impala 4 door station wagon, it can comfortably hold 6 to 9 people... but yeah, for anyone that's seen Supernatural you'll know where I'm coming from with this one.
Rumer - July 17, 2007 10:50 PM (GMT)
And yet that seems so fitting. *hearts Supernatrual and Dean's car*
John - July 17, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)
So now you guys have to fit Krysta into the group. Remember, all character relationships have to be posted in here beforehand. ;)
Krysta - July 17, 2007 11:25 PM (GMT)
YAY!! I can finally post here!!!!!!!
LOL ya I know what you're talking about, Jon. A little too clicheed and cheesey. I'm thinking something like what's in John's movie poster.
Also, Emma and I were talking and I think the way this will work is everyone has been friends for some years now, most likely everyone grew up together, except Cortez.
And if/when Perry passes his audition, him and Krysta will be cousins. Courtney had a crush on him and was gonna go after him on the trip, but he's gay. only Krysta knows cause Perry and Krysta are really close, but she had to tell Courtney. But she didn't tell Perry that she told Courtney.
Is any of this making sense?
::EDIT:: Apparently I take too long to type. Happens when you've got five convos and a PM convo going. lol.
